Can freedom be unqualified? Is it just unrestricted action? Or the ability to act? Is a person more free in a city or in the wilderness? I think the concept of freedom might just be illusory in that we construct it to be synonymous with whatever structure allows for the type of action which one prefers.
In relation to society I know I can never be free. I think this is why I have felt solidarity most with anarchists, because the type of ache you feel in your heart, seeing oppression in all its forms, woven throughout your social reality, can often be more overwhelming than just the realization that the whole social-system is setup to screw people over. The latter leaves room for hope.
